For nearly 50 years, Goldberg Montessori School (GMS) has been a place where children are known, families are welcomed, and learning grows from each child’s natural curiosity. As the oldest Jewish Montessori early childhood and kindergarten program in the Southwest United States, GMS brings together the child-centered philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori with the richness of Jewish life, values, and tradition.

What began in 1977 as a single classroom and Mother’s Day Out program has grown into a thriving community serving children from infancy through kindergarten. Over the years, more than 5,000 families have been part of the GMS community, creating a legacy that reaches across generations. Today, GMS remains a place where children, families, and educators build meaningful connections that often continue long after a child’s years at school.

Our classrooms are designed around the belief that every child has a unique path to follow. From infancy through kindergarten, children are given the time, space, and encouragement to explore, make choices, develop independence, and discover the joy of learning. Our Montessori-trained educators carefully observe each child and thoughtfully prepare an environment that meets children where they are while encouraging them to take their next steps with confidence.

In our thoughtfully prepared Montessori classrooms, children learn through hands-on experiences and meaningful work. Practical Life activities nurture independence, coordination, concentration, and care for self and others, while materials in language, mathematics, sensorial exploration, and other areas invite children to investigate, problem-solve, and build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Rather than asking every child to learn in the same way or at the same pace, Montessori honors the individual child and supports learning through discovery, repetition, and growing independence.

At the heart of GMS is our Jewish community. Jewish values, traditions, culture, and learning are woven naturally into the children's daily experiences. Through celebrations, stories, songs, Hebrew, holidays, and meaningful connections to Jewish life, children develop a sense of belonging and begin to understand the traditions that connect generations.

Our dedicated educators bring decades of Montessori experience, knowledge of Judaic studies, and a deep commitment to knowing and nurturing each child. At GMS, we believe education is not simply about preparing children for the next grade, it is about helping each child develop a strong sense of self, a love of learning, compassion for others, and the confidence to follow their own path.
