Goldberg Montessori School is the oldest Jewish Montessori early childhood and kindergarten program in the Southwest United States. For nearly five decades, we have thoughtfully combined a rich Judaic studies curriculum with the inspiring Montessori educational philosophy established by Dr. Maria Montessori more than one hundred years ago.

Dr. Montessori believed that “the most important period of life is the first one, the period from birth to age six, for that is the time when man’s intelligence itself, his greatest implement, is being formed.” At Goldberg Montessori School, we embrace this foundational period as an extraordinary opportunity for discovery, growth, and development.

Judaic Program       

Our school offers an integrated Judaic curriculum that aligns with the Montessori Method. Our Judaic program includes daily morning prayers, brachot (blessings), Birkat HaMazon (grace after meals), parashat hashavuah (the weekly Torah portion), chagim (holidays), and the incorporation of Judaic themes in everyday life, such as mitzvot and character traits from Torah heroes. We learn about all of the Jewish holidays through song, stories and art projects. Hebrew language skills are an integral part of our daily classroom routine. The Hebrew language teacher rotates through our classrooms familiarizing the children with basic Hebrew vocabulary and reading skills for those who are ready. Students have both group and individual Hebrew lessons.

Montessori Program

Dr. Maria Montessori believed that the goal of education is to cultivate and nurture a child’s natural desire to learn. At Goldberg Montessori School, our classrooms are thoughtfully prepared to encourage independence, curiosity, and a genuine love of learning. Children are empowered to work at their own developmental level, make meaningful choices, and take responsibility for themselves and their classroom community.

Our multi-age classrooms reflect the Montessori approach to learning, allowing children to learn from one another while developing at their own pace. Our Toddler program welcomes children beginning at 18 months, while our Primary classrooms serve children ages three to six.

Philosophy

What makes Goldberg Montessori School unique is the intentional integration of a rich Judaic curriculum with the Montessori educational philosophy. Each classroom is guided by both a fully certified Montessori teacher and a dedicated Judaic teacher, creating a learning environment where Jewish values, traditions, and learning are woven naturally into the children’s daily experiences. Together, our educators nurture a love of learning and a genuine joy in meaningful work.

The Montessori approach recognizes early childhood as a formative period of extraordinary growth and discovery. It provides an environment in which intellectual, moral, physical, spiritual, and social development can flourish. Dr. Maria Montessori believed that education should cultivate a child’s innate desire to learn, allowing children from birth to age six to absorb knowledge and develop understanding naturally, spontaneously, and joyfully.

In our classrooms, children are encouraged to explore, discover, and engage with carefully designed Montessori materials, working both independently and cooperatively. Through these experiences, they develop essential skills and qualities including independence, coordination, order, self-discipline, concentration, and confidence, while building a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
